KEARRIA FREED

Founder and Executive Director

Kearria is a native of Mobile, Alabama where she is actively involved in her community. After years of hard work in rehabilitation she returned back to school earning her Associates degree in General Education from Bishop State Community College and her Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Human Services. Through her knowledge, skills, and experience she is determined to increase the number of resources available to disabled young adults and their caregivers.

MADONNA BURDEN

Co Founder and Vice President

Madonna is the Co Founder and Vice President of Kearria Kares Foundation. She is the mother of Kearria and has vested full interest in her foundation. She has a background in education, previously teaching 2nd and 3rd grade, a school counselor, and is currently an assistant principal. “I love working with children to assist them in reaching their goals in life.” For this exact reason, she has been employed in Mobile County Public School System for 18 years and continues to help enhance the lives of many students. She brings years of experience and skills to the forefront in helping the organization grow and succeed.

ANGELA KENNEDY

Treasurer

Experienced, trustworthy, fun. These are just a few of the ways board members describe this invaluable member of our organization.Dr. Kennedy is the Treasurer of Kearria Kares Foundation. She has a background in education, having served as  a French teacher in secondary education throughout various schools within Mobile County Public School System. She is an active member of Azalea Hills Christian Church, and enjoys helping individuals advance in different areas of their lives. She loves to read, travel, and attend various sporting events, and she is married to her high school sweetheart, Richard Kennedy.

CHANTEAL BLACK

Parliamentarian

Chanteal is the Parliamentarian of Kearria Kares Foundation. She is a Jackson,Alabama native, who attended Coastal Community College, earning her associate’s degree in Administrative Medical Technology. Chanteal is focused on developing the organization with personal experience and integrity. Chanteal has first hand experience of living with a disability because she is a Spinal Cord Injury survivor.She is committed to helping increase the independence of disabled young adults.

MAYA FREED, MLSP (ASCP)

Fundraising Chair

Maya Freed is the Fundraising Chair of Kearria Kares Foundation.  She plays a critical role in planning and executing fundraising activities to support the organization's mission. She has a master's degree in Medical Laboratory  Science and a range of skills and knowledge that are valuable to the organization. She is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated. Maya is committed to helping her sister  Kearria fulfill her dreams of making Kearria Kares Foundation a successful and impactful non profit organization.
